PEOPLE in Teesdale are being urged to scour their attics and cupboards for items to help create a display of mementos depicting the dales.
The appeal has been launched by community development trust Middleton Plus, which is hoping hundreds of people in the dale will be able to provide souvenirs for a display.
Middleton Plus, which provides support for several projects in Upper Teesdale, decided to launch the appeal after requests from the public.
Staff at Middleton-in-Teesdale Tourist Information Centre believe that thousands of ceramic or glass souvenirs of Upper Teesdale were produced during the 1950s and 1960s, many depicting High Force and other attractions.
Judith Mashiter, manager of the Tourist Information Centre, said: "The items would obviously be carefully looked after and kept in a secure position in the Tourist Information Centre window."
The display, called Treasures of Teesdale, is to be launched in March.
Anyone wishing to lend items for the display can contact the Tourist Information Centre on (01833) 641001.
