CONSERVATIONISTS are urging all festive revellers to make good on their New Year resolutions - by joining up as volunteers.
The Ryedale Conservation Volunteers have already been set their first task of the year 2001, at Beadale Wood, near Wrelton.
They will be carrying out management work on the ancient, semi-natural woodland on January 21, to benefit the area's rich crop of spring flowers.
There will also be the chance to try coppicing and the opportunity to learn more about the art from woodsman Chris Morley - as well as the chance to see charcoal burners on site.
All are welcome, although the under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers must be at the car park of Ryedale House, in Malton, at 9.15am, and must take warm, waterproof clothing and footwear suitable for working in, as well as a packed lunch.
