POLICE last night renewed appeals for the owner of about £5,000 found in the street by a bus driver to claim the cash.
Phil Rayner, of Gateshead, Tyneside, was on a lunch break when he saw the money lying in a plastic packet on the road.
The 39-year-old father-of-three handed the bundle in to police on January 4, but no one had come forward to claim ownership as of yesterday.
If the money remains unclaimed after 28 days, it can be kept by Mr Rayner, a £170-a-week driver.
The exact amount of money has not been revealed as a means of checking claims.
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 0191-454 7555.
