LITTLE Keiran Hall will soon be able to walk, thanks to the fundraising efforts of schoolchildren.
Keiran, four, from Springfield Road, Fishburn, County Durham, has a form of cerebral palsy. His family found out last year that the only thing that could help him get around was a device built by a firm in Birmingham.
But the equipment, described as the Rolls Royce of walkers, cost £2,500.
Bob Sewell, of Spennymoor's Asda store, raised £530 and started a fund. A charity football match at South Hetton WMC raised another £428, but that still left the family short.
Keiran's father, Joe, said: "My daughter Emma, who goes to Tudhoe Grange School, offered to help.
"Mr Coleman, the headteacher, agreed and they really put their hearts into it. They got the rest of the money with a disco, non-uniform day and sponsored silence."
Keiran now has his walker, which will strengthen his legs, support his head and help his kidneys.
Mr Hall said: "I'm over the moon and would like to thank everybody who has helped.
