PARENTS have reacted angrily to a call for their children's nursery school to close.
They say they are very happy with the education their children are receiving at Borough Road Nursery School, Darlington.
They have dismissed one mother's claim that the school should be closed because of the poor state of the building. She said the nursery needed a new roof and the heating had broken down before Christmas.
Sandra Frankland, whose four-year-old daughter, Tamara, attends the nursery, said: "We are very upset that someone has criticised the school because it is a lovely nursery."
Ruth Blundell, of Aldgrove Walk, Darlington, said: "I have nothing but the strongest admiration for both the service provided and the quality and commitment of all the staff.
"The very occasional breakdown in heating and the odd leak hardly poses a risk to our children's health and safety."
Michaela Dryden, whose daughter Cheyenne, four, goes to the school, said: "I think the vast majority of parents think it is a very good nursery."
And parent governor Sharon Towers said: "We can't believe anyone could be so nasty about the nursery, which is excellent."
Darlington Borough Council has described Borough Road Nursery School as one of the best in the town, and said the building is structurally sound
