Twelfth Night may have been and gone but those bedraggled Christmas trees can still be put to good use.
Gateshead residents can do their bit for the environment by having their trees pulped by the borough council.
Trees are being turned into mulch to use on shrubs and flowerbeds across the borough, with chippings being used on footpaths and parks and in Chopwell Woods.
Trees can be taken to recycling centres until Saturday. The centres are at Central Nursery, Whickham Highway, Campground recycling centre, Wrekenton, and Cowen Road recycling centre at Blaydon.
Forest Enterprise and Friends of Chopwell Woods are also recycling trees, up to Monday
