A GYNAECOLOGIST yesterday denied slapping two of his patients on the thigh during examinations.
Dr Janusz Wszeborowski, 67, said he had no recollection of slapping Mrs Nicola Cummins and telling her to stop tensing up, the General Medical Council heard.
The doctor, of Shotley Gardens, Gateshead, also denied slapping another patient, referred to as Mrs W(a) on the thigh.
Dr Wszeborowski said the slapping allegations were "the most depressing" he had ever heard.
He said: ''I strongly deny this. I am a professional and I'm not in a position to be able to slap anyone.''
Dr Wszeborowski denies serious professional misconduct.
The gynaecologist has already rejected suggestions that he used undue force when using forceps during three deliveries.
A further allegation against Dr Wszeborowski is that he used a mobile phone to call another doctor to discuss a patient's case within her earshot, and in doing so caused her considerable anxiety and distress.
He said: ''I made the call in front of her to show I was trying to help her. I just passed on the information she was giving me to her doctor. Maybe I should have used the phone out in the corridor.''
The hearing continues today.
