The Thirsk White Horse swim team finished their second year since being formed in 1999 with some great results.
They won a gold medal in the National Masters Championships and achieved gold, four finalists and reserve finalists in the prestigious City of Bradford open meet, together with 168 best ever times and 35 championship records broken in the club championships.
Helen Douthwaite took gold in the National Masters Championships 100 metres breaststroke in 1.14.88 seconds, while at the Bradford meet 11-year-old Adam Wood won gold in the 100m butterfly in a battle royal with Kirklees swimmer Samuel Taylor. Adam was also reserve finalist in the 100m freestyle and finished fifth in the 200m individual medley.
Jason Smith, competing in his first major event in five years, had an excellent swim in the open 100m backstroke, finishing fifth in 1.01.41.
Hannah Creelman, swimming a bit below par, was still able to finish sixth in the 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, while in-form Emily Jeff, although not among the medals, showed she is certainly on track for better things.
Thirsk's fifth swimmer was boys captain Nicholas Coulson, competing in the 100m breaststroke.
The club championships were once again a huge success, with 299 entries, 168 personal best times and 35 championship records broken.
Mark Wilkinson and Adam Wood had clean sweeps in their respective age groups, with Emily Jeff having some excellent swims along with Debbie Pollard, Duncan Watt, Oliver Putnam and Michael Todd.
Swimmers who had a great time were Sarah Lacy, Ashley Crewdson, Jon Easton and George Easton, all competing in the teaching pool with great support from swimmers and spectators.
