MEASURES to slow down traffic travelling through an East Cleveland village are to be discussed at a public meeting next week.
Coun Christine Swales, who represents the villages of Liverton and Liverton Mines on Loftus Town Council, is concerned about motorists speeding on the main road through the villages, which lie off the A171 Teesside to Whitby road, despite a speed limit of 30 miles per hour.
Coun Swales is trying to secure funding through Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's Safer Streets Project for traffic calming measures such as speed bumps.
Coun Swales said motorists - particularly those who are not local to the area - are often caught out by the sharp, blind bends.
The meeting takes place on Thursday at 7pm in the community centre in Liverton Mines.
