TOP brass band conductor Nicholas Childs helped 50 young people at a music workshop in Bishop Auckland.
The musicians, aged between 11 and 25, from across County Durham, spent a day picking up tips from the conductor of the Black Dyke Mills Band.
Three band colleagues helped him at the event -- Chris Turner, principal cornet, Lesley Howie, principal tenor horn, and Phil Goodwin, principal tuba.
The workshop, organised by Durham County Council's arts, libraries and museums, department, culminated in a short concert, featuring music studied during the day. It was attended by family and friends of the musicians.
