THE image of the region around the world, and how it can be improved, is being investigated.
The North-East Regional Assembly and the regional development agency One North-East have joined forces to develop a regional image strategy.
As part of the work, 2,500 questionnaires are being sent out to prominent business people and decision makers throughout the UK, Europe, North America, Japan and possibly India and China.
The questionnaire will seek to gain an insight into how the region is viewed by the outside world.
Results of the questionnaire will be used to form an strategy to try to encourage investment in the area by boosting the area's image.
The North-East Regional Assembly was set up in 1999 at the same time as the regional development agency.
Its 63 members are drawn from local councils, MPs and MEPs, the private and business sectors and people with interests in culture and educational activities.
The assembly presses the region's case in Government and Europe.
