A museum dedicated to one of the North-East's famous regiments is launching art and craft workshops.
The DLI, formerly the Durham Light Infantry Museum and Durham Art Gallery, in Durham City, is aiming the Sunday afternoon events at children and their families.
They will be held from Sunday, to March 18, and if the pilot run is successful, could be extended to the rest of the year.
Museum manager Steve Shannon said: "Each session lasts an hour and is run by Effie Burns, who has five years' experience of running workshops for children.
"The first will see families framing their own masterpieces using a mosaic of paper, wire and other materials.
"In the following weeks they'll be able to make miniature slides, using glass paints and coloured pens, create underwater creatures, use pre-Roman technology to work with glass, and make their own performing puppet."
Ms Burns, a visiting lecturer at Sunderland University, said: "I enjoy doing workshops with children as they allow them to discover their creative potential and have fun."
The workshops will be held on January 21, February 4 and 18 and March 4 and 18, starting at 2pm.
They are open to youngsters aged five to 11 who must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets cost £2.50, £1.50 for season ticket holders. For details and bookings call 0191-384 2214
