AN exhibition dedicated to the Jewish faith and lifestyle opens in the North-East tomorrow.
The Jewish Way of Life will be held at the Discovery Museum, Blandford Square, Newcastle, as part of a national tour.
Its visit to the city will coincide with the first Holocaust Memorial Day, on Saturday, January 27, which was introduced by Prime Minister Tony Blair to remember the victims of Nazi Germany's attempt to wipe out Europe's Jews during the Second World War.
Graham Bradshaw, curator of the Discovery Museum, said: "It is the first time that this prestigious exhibition has been shown in Newcastle, and we are delighted that it will be exhibited at the museum.
"One of the main aims of the exhibition is to fight racism and promote understanding between faiths.
"It is particularly significant that it coincides with Holocaust Memorial Day. There will be a special programme of events to mark the occasion."
The exhibition, which runs until Sunday, February 11, is being staged jointly by the Newcastle Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education and the Representative Council of North-East Jewry.
Opening times are 10am to 5pm Mondays to Saturdays and 2pm to 5pm on Sundays. Admission is free.
