BAKERY shops in two South Durham towns have been targeted by thieves three times in the past two weeks.
But detectives say there is probably no connection between a raid on a Peter's shop in Proudfoot Drive, Bishop Auckland, and two break-ins at another of the firm's shops in High Street, Willington.
The thieves who broke into Proudfoot Drive used specialist burning equipment to steal a few hundred pounds.
The Willington bakery lost cash and a charity box in a break-in between January 4 and 5 and a stainless steel bain-marie overnight on Thursday.
