ANOTHER late-night attack has been reported in a village where a young woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault 18 months ago.
The latest assault in Colburn, North Yorkshire, was reported in the early hours of Saturday - and detectives want to speak to anyone who may have heard shouting coming from the sports fields between 1.45am and 2.30am.
Police are still hunting an attacker who pounced on a 23-year-old making her way home from Staxx nightclub on September 4, 1999. She was attacked as she took a short cut past the Sovereign Chemical factory on the Walkerville Industrial Estate, not far from Catterick Garrison.
North Yorkshire Police have released few details about this weekend's attack, but the area was sealed off yesterday and officers working on the case declined to comment.
The attack will fuel the fears of people who have been pressing for more bus services to the area.
A link has not yet been established with the new Regent Park estate, and resident Andrew Worboys has been pressing the county council to include the area on the network.
He was concerned for his 11-year-old daughter. "The nearest bus stop is ten minutes away on foot, and I am worried something could happen on her way home from school,'' he said
