ORGANISERS of a scheme aiming to encourage young women to become more physically active are staging an event later this month.
Youngsters aged 14 to 18 are invited to the Let's Go Girls event, set up by Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council's Female Force partnership.
The event takes place on Thursday, January 25, from 6.30pm to 9pm, in the Sun Pavilion, Valley Gardens, Harrogate.
It will include self defence demonstrations from leisure staff at the town's Hydro and Rossett Sports Centre.
Harrogate councillor Jane Blayney, cabinet member for leisure and amenity services, said: "The aim of Female Force is to motivate young women to become more physically active. The first Let's Go Girls, held in September last year, was such a success that we thought we would repeat it.
