A MEETING in Harrogate today seems set to hit the pockets of taxpayers in the borough.
The council's cabinet is being urged to sanction a ten per cent increase in council tax in April to help cover the local authority's spending plans.
The Government estimates that the authority needs £14.34m to cover its costs in 2001.
However, the cabinet will be asked to rubber-stamp spending at £17.41m - a move which could incur the Government's wrath
