A Newton Aycliffe secondary school is celebrating a glowing report from Office for Standards in Education inspectors.
Woodham Community Technology College was visited a team of 15 Ofsted inspectors last year.
Their report says that the strengths of the college far outweigh the weaknesses which were observed.
It says: "High expectations are now a hallmark of the teaching in this very well led and effectively managed community technology college."
The report highlights that teachers and adults in the school provide good role models. It also says leadership and management are very good and praises the support provided by the school's governing body.
Teaching is rated satisfactory or better in 95 per cent of lessons, and the level of specialist knowledge is rated very good.
Links with local business and industry are highlighted, as is the fact that the college attaches as much emphasis to sport, physical well-being and personal development as it does to raising academic achievement.
Headteacher Steve Harness said: "The Ofsted report acknowledges the hard work and commitment shown by staff and students.
"It recognises that achieving specialist technology college status has impacted positively on the learning of all students at Woodham, and reflects our policy of achievement for all."
