Ithe Robson-Pattison Cup, the champions and league leaders Billingham Wanderers were forced to pull out all the stops to defeat bottom of the table Sedgefield United 3-1 on penalties after extra time.
Sedgefield belied their lowly position by playing excellent football and were unlucky not to have pulled off a surprise win. The Wanderers took the lead through Harry Davies but Sedgefield came back strongly and eventually levelled through Brian Carruthers and extra time was necessary as there was no further score.
