A TAXI driver was celebrating today after an amazing lucky streak ended with a £2m win on the National Lottery.
Shirley Garbutt, 39, from Bedale, North Yorkshire, discovered she had scooped the jackpot in Wednesday's draw after returning home from a night's driving.
Shirley, who runs her own taxi company, received the cheque for £1,963,348 with husband Bob at a champagne celebration at the Scotch Corner Hotel.
Hitting the jackpot was the third stroke of luck in the space of a week for the Garbutts.
Their winning streak began the previous Wednesday when they won a seven-day holiday in Spain on a scratchcard. And that was followed up just a few days later when Bob landed the top prize at a local pub's beer draw.
"We'd had a lucky week already - but to win the Lottery as well is just absolutely fantastic," said Shirley. "I will continue to drive for the firm and we plan that Bob will now also join the company."
