Games

The new competition started in two leagues with the eventual winners of each playing off in the Final. All matches are made up of six pool singles, six dominoes singles and three pool doubles.

The biggest shock in the first round of matches came at Tow Law Football Club when the visiting Lanchester King's Head went down by five points. In the pool singles the footballers had wins from Terry Ginty, Keith Muse, Arthur Henderson and Charlie Donaghy with Andrew Wales and Mark Brown replying. Only Graeme Thompson managed a singles point at dominoes for the King's as Isaac Slack, Billy Lyle, Charlie Donaghy and Keith Muse won for the home side. The King's managed one point in the pool doubles.

Tow Law Rose and Crown were taken to the final pool doubles before leaving Sunniside Moss Inn with an odd point victory. In the pool singles only Norman Spence and Terry Taylor took points for the Moss whilst Tommy Joyce, Derek Mowbray, Neil Stevens and Lee Mowbray won for the visitors. Only Chris Bowes and Derek Mowbray scored dominoes points for the visitors, while Carol Howe, John Howe, Norman Spence and Billy McClay levelled the match. The first two pool doubles were shared and in the decider Lee Mowbray and Neil Stevens beat the Moss pairing of John Beveridge and Billy McClay.

Willington Ladies League

The Prospect Club moved one point ahead at the top of the darts table after they almost whitewashed the visiting Hunwick Joiners Arms. Willington Club slipped into second spot after they dropped three points at Willington Cottles. Sunnybrow Brown Trout are 14 points behind in third place.

The top places in the dominoes section are much tighter. Willington Club lead Hunwick Joiners Arms by one point with Willington Black Horse A a further point adrift.
