CaptionTony Gelder, in-form veteran, was called into the Darlington team for their British League, Premier Division game at Barnet on Sunday - 21 years after playing in their first British League game.
Sadly for Gelder, a partner in the Sunderland-based bakery, it wasn't a perfect return.
The 42-year-old said: "I was loaded with cold and didn't do myself justice, but the week before I had done so well at a veterans' Grand Prix tournament.
Gelder, who has also played for Sunderland and Newcastle, reached the final where he lost to Keith Williams having defeated England's number one Brian Johns of Cheshire on the way.
