SPIDERBOY Tommy Laws has vowed to go straight after being presented with his first child.
Laws, 20, gained notoriety during his younger years as a one-boy crimewave who led police on Tyneside a merry dance by escaping along high ledges.
He is currently serving an 18-month prison sentence for affray in Durham Jail.
Laws' girlfriend, Michelle Suniga, gave birth to his son on Sunday and named him after her lover. Thomas weighed in at 6lbs 8oz.
In June last year Laws escaped from the dock of North Tyneside Magistrates' Court and remained on the run for three months.
He has been committing crimes since 1991 when, at the age of 11, he was convicted of theft.
Aged 12 he managed to evade social workers and led police 70ft up on to the roof of Whitley Bay Magistrates' Court.
Laws is said to have cried with happiness when told of his son's birth.
He and Michelle are to set up home in a flat in North Shields following his release from prison
