TWO Darlington Borough Council workers are taking up a ski challenge for charity.
Julie Russell and Rebecca Williams, who work for the community services department, are training for the Charity Ski Challenge.
More than £1.5m is being invested in cancer research locally and the fundraising programme will support an extensive pre-clinical and clinical drug discovery and development programme at Newcastle University.
Julie, a facilities manager, and Rebecca, a horticultural manager, will be raising a minimum £2,500 towards the work.
They will then attempt to ski 20,000m in two days in The Three Valleys, in France.
Julie and Rebecca's main fundraising event is a St Valentine's Day disco being held in the Dolphin Centre's Central Hall, on Saturday, February 10, from 7.30pm.
Tickets for the disco, costing £5, are now on sale.
