HARTLEPOOL United could only manage a 2-2 draw with bottom-placed Carlisle at Victoria Park.
Pool went into the game on the back of a stunning run of seven wins from eight games, but could not beat the side four points adrift at the bottom.
The visitors went in front through a Carl Heggs header in the first half, but Pool turned it around with two second-half efforts.
Craig Midgley and Paul Arnison put Pool in the lead, but once again Pool conceded a late goal to lose points when Scott Dobie rifled in through a packed penalty area with 90 minutes on the clock.
