APPRENTICE Ross Ward is a polished worker according to his bosses.
Mr Ward, 22, has been named Apprentice of the Year by shoe repair firm Timpson's
He works in Darlington's Tubwell Row branch, and has been tipped as a good prospect by chairman and chief executive John Timpson.
Mr Timpson said: "I've marked him down as one to watch and potential management material."
Ross, of Half Moon Lane, Spennymoor, won a £250 prize plus a trophy. He said: "I really enjoy the challenge of different jobs each day whether it's watch repairs, shoes, keys or engraving."
He thanked the customers who had nominated him and praising his friendliness.
His manager Kevin Williams added: "I've been in the trade for over 20 years and Ross is without doubt the best trainee I've ever worked with."
