FAMILIES learned new skills ranging from nail care to computing at the first session of a Saturday Morning Club.
Langbaurgh School, in Middlesbrough, welcomed pupils and their parents to classes aimed at building a sense of community, at the weekend.
Subjects included music with computers, painting for pleasure, pottery, model aeroplane making, and master cookery.
Teaching was provided with the help of local businesses, and Middlesbrough Adult Learning Service. Roary the Lion, Middlesbrough Football Club's mascot, also paid a visit to the club.
Ron Newitt, Langbaurgh's headteacher said: "I think this is an excellent innovation, which is another positive step in our move towards the concepts of the Excellence in Cities initiative. I am absolutely delighted with the positive response to the club by parents and pupils alike."
Any parents wishing to enrol on a course, or who would like more information, can ring Lawrie Coulthard, the school's community liaison officer, on (01642) 314419
