FORMER Darlington Football Club captain Kevan Smith will be seen in a very different role in a Tyne Tees Television programme tonight.
He and his soccer-mad mates are captured on camera having a wild time in The Studs, the latest edition of the popular Party Nights series.
One of them, Les Langley, who runs Bar Zantia, in Middlesbrough, was approached by the programme-makers about filming them. He and the former Darlington defender are featured together with Steve Cox and Danny Key, who live in Darlington.
They were filmed on a lads' night out at Tall Trees club, Yarm, where the Retro Night entertainment included Phil and Vicky, from Manchester whose act involves pythons and buttock-baring costumes.
"There are a few of us who are football mad and go out drinking. We normally chat about football, and one or two ogle up women. The rest of us just prop up the bar," said Mr Smith, who is married.
"When the cameras were there I did what I normally do, which is stand around chatting and saying hello to people I haven't seen for a while.
"We were miked up so I was concentrating on not swearing. I don't think we showed ourselves up."
Party Nights is on at 10.50pm.
