GARAGES and sheds have been raided by thieves in Newton Aycliffe and Ferryhill.
In High Green, Newton Aycliffe, thieves moved the security light at the back of a house before breaking into a shed and stealing two bicycles at the weekend.
One was a woman's lilac cycle, the other was a youth's mountain bike.
Also stolen in the raid, which happened between 5pm on Friday and 10am on Monday, was a Black & Decker power drill with attachments and an assortment of tools.
A factory unit in Leaside, Newton Aycliffe, was also attacked between 12.30pm on Saturday and 6.03pm on Sunday, but the thieves left empty- handed. It is thought they were disturbed, having jemmied open the rear door, causing damage estimated at £500.
