A HUSBAND'S campaign to free his wife after she was jailed for biting off a man's testicle gathers pace this week.
Nathan Carr will hear from the High Court in London whether his wife, Denise, can appeal against the six-month sentence handed to her three weeks ago.
The mother-of-two is in Low Newton Prison for sinking her teeth into the groin of self-confessed wife-beater Neil Hutchinson.
Carr, a sales advisor, of Old Durham Road, Gateshead, had gone to the aid of Mr Hutchinson's new wife Shelley, 20, after he attacked her.
On Friday, Carr's legal representatives will attend an appeal hearing at the High Court to see whether they are granted leave to appeal.
Meanwhile, to keep the case in the public eye, her husband has planned a demonstration of public support in South Shields, South Tyneside.
Nathan and family members will team up with Wearside Women in Need to hand out leaflets to shoppers asking them to support their freedom campaign.
Carr could be released in as little as three weeks time because she could be allowed to wear an electronic tag for the remainder of her sentence.
