A TRIP to a tourist attraction can be a hurried affair for those who arrive by coach.
The average tour of the World of James Herriot centre, in Kirkgate, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, takes between 90 minutes and two hours.
But coaches that stop in the town's Millgate coach park can only stay for a maximum of two hours - leaving visitors with little chance to visit the centre and sample the delights of the town.
Now steps are being taken to to make visits to the former home of Britain's most famous vet more leisurely.
Tourist chiefs and the local Chamber of Trade have both expressed their concern, and have asked Hambleton District Council to extend the time limit.
The public protection committee is being recommended to extend the time limit for coach parking to three hours, for a 12-month trial period.
