THE restoration of a village hall is to begin as soon as the worst of the winter weather is over, it has been announced.
Work to restore the fascia of the former 19th Century temperance hall of Hurworth Village Hall, is due to start soon.
The millennium project to restore the building has already received support from the Millennium Festival Awards and Hurworth Parish Council.
At a recent management committee meeting, two events were announced to further support fundraising activities for the project.
The first is a combined fair and table top sale, and will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 10am to 12.30pm.
A limited number of tables will be available at £5 each, for those wishing to sell their own items, and early reservation of these via the bookings secretary is recommended. Refreshments will be available.
The second event is a combined musical evening and Spring draw, and will be held on Friday, May 18, at 7.30pm.
This will feature the Grange Singers and the Hurworth Brass Ensemble. The event will also host the draw for the Hurworth Village Hall Spring Raffle which has a £50 cash prize.
Tickets for the evening cost £1 including refreshments and can be reserved by contacting the bookings secretary.
