A FRESH appeal has gone out for people to get involved in the celebration of a part of Hartlepool's heritage.
The rallying call follows approval of a £13,000 grant from the Local Heritage Initiative, a partnership between Heritage Lottery Fund (LHI), Nationwide Building Society and the Countryside Agency, to support Back To Our Roots, a scheme involving the historic Burn Valley Gardens.
The aim is to explore the gardens' history and heritage, which may include the use of photography, art, film and creative writing and produce pieces of work recording people's recollections for future generations.
The LHI money will be used to fund a variety of artistic activities, including the employment of an artist to work with the community.
Angela Pallister, community support officer with Hartlepool Borough Council said: "We want to get people's reminiscences about the Burn Valley Gardens."
Anyone with stories or memories of the gardens can contact Angela on (01429) 523472
