A DRIVER narrowly escaped harm when a gang of children, aged about seven or eight, threw a brick into the path of his bus.
The windscreen of the single-decker bus was smashed and glass splinters thrown into the driver's cab in the attack in Newcastle.
A police spokesman said the gang, thought to number either four or five, threw the brick from a footbridge at the junction of White Street and Walker Road, Newcastle, at 9.25pm on Tuesday.
The Stagecoach driver was left shaken by the incident, while his one passenger also escaped injury.
Detective Inspector Ian Groom of Newcastle East CID said: "This dangerous activity could have had far more serious consequences and could lead to a fatal injury."
