BUDDING athletes have been praised for their outstanding achievement in a cross country championship.
Laurence Jackson School, in Guisborough, was delighted with the efforts of its pupils who represented Redcar and Cleveland in the Cleveland school's Cross Country Championships, at Hartlepool last week.
Among those finishing in prominent positions were:
l Year seven boys - Jonathan Corner, third, and Jamie Dewing, third.
l Year seven girls - Laura Minter, third, and Sarah Stroyd, fourth.
l Years eight and nine boys - James Minter, fifth, and Scott Dixon, sixth.
l Years eight and nine girls - Debbie Hastings Long, fourth.
l Years ten and 11 boys - Chris Burdett, second, and Steven Pogue, seventh.
l Years ten and 11 girls - Angharad Owen, fourth, and Laura McPherson, fifth.
PE teacher, Rob Holladay, said it was great to have 11 pupils in the Cleveland team.They will compete in the Northern championships, at Kirkby Stephen, on Saturday,February 3.
