PLANS to demolish a former nursing home and build four houses on the site are still awaiting approval.
Darlington Borough Council has been asked to approve the proposal for the former home in Carmel Road North, in the town.
The site has previously been used as a residential school, offices and home for the elderly.
Only one letter of objection has been received, from the Council for the Protection of Rural England.
It said: "The present building is worth retaining and will have potential for subdivision and extension, retaining the character of the area."
Council planning officers have recommended the plans for approval, but members of the planning committee have decided to carry out a site visit before making a decision
