Junior round-up
Billingham Wildcats charge for the Women's Division One North title contined when they comfortably defeated Whitley Bay Squaws 9-2 on Saturday.
Wildcats went ahead through Vanessa Hill but Squaws levelled through Claire Oldfield. Before the first period was completed, Billingham were back in the lead as Kirsty Amos and Zoe Bayne struck 16 seconds apart in the 19th minute. Bayne scored her second on the powerplay 67 seconds into the second period for a 4-1 lead. Oldfield hit back for Whitley with her second of the match at 23.51.
Two strikes late in the middle session from Hill and Rachel Beck gave Wildcats a 6-2 lead at the end of the period. With the result in the bag Wildcats gave an opportunity to send Beverley Hutchinson in goal to replace Jenny Smith.
Player-coach Julie Hall got on the scoresheet in the 48th minute and the scoring was completed at 55.42 and 56.01 with a braced from Jenny Carter.

Billingham Falcons won 5-2 at Hillheads against Sunderland Commanches in English Pee-Wee (U-14) North A League. Second placed Falcons, one loss all season, went a goal behind before coming back to take both points. Commanches' leading scorer Liam Telfer put the Wearsiders ahead after two minutes. Falcons equalised through captain Steven Pritchard. Sunderland's netminder Mark Lee faced 20 shots in the first period which ended 1-1. In eight and a half minutes at the start of the second and final period Lee faced nine shots and conceded four as a dominant Falcons side broke down a tough Commanches rearguard.
James Udell scored 56 seconds into the restart. This was followed by three from Pritchard at 22.17, 25.53 and 28.20. Jason Moss came on for Lee at 28.20 and he did not concede a goal from 12 shots faces.

Billingham Pumas had no answer to league leaders Kingston Rivermen in the English Bantam (U-12) North A League, beaten 13-0 at home, managing only five shots while there were 46 shots shared between Hughes and Roberts in Pumas net.
In the English Junior (U-16) North A League on Sunday, Whitley Tomahawks entertained Sunderland Arrows at Hillheads. Arrows went 2-0 ahead inside four minutes with goals from Jonathan Heslop and John Westgarth, both coming on the powerplay.
Whitley hit back through Daniel Good, Ryan Sample levelled before Good and Anthony Slassor sent the home side into a 4-2 lead. Whitley's Rob Wilson received a five plus game misconduct for roughing at 41.06.

Billingham Wolves are still in the hunt for the English U19 North A League title after an 8-0 home win over Telford Trojans whose defence, especially netminder Lea Ross, held out until 21-04 when Stephen Wallace put Wolves ahead. By the end of the second period Wallace had hit a hat-trick plus a Tom Griffiths goal had put Wolves 4-0 ahead. Ross was replaced by Daniel Brittle at 32.23 and he conceded two in the second and four in the third as Wolves won 8-0.

Sunderland Tomahawks were beaten 3-1 at Nottingham Leopards in the same competition, Adam Carr scored Tomahawks consolation goal.
In the U-19 North B League, Whitley Braves won 8-1 at Solihull Knights. Mark Good scored the only goal of the first period as Braves led 1-0.
Paul Graham and Neil Bainbridge helped them to a 4-1 lead at the second break. The final period brought Graham his hat-trick as he scored two of the goals. DJ Good and Mark Good struck the others.
