TWO men were arrested last night after a high speed chase during which a car was driven the wrong way down the A1.
A police Volvo pursued the red Saab 900 from Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, to the Dishforth turn-off when it turned and briefly drove south along the northbound road.
The red Saab eventually turned off and was stopped by police, who arrested two men from Tyneside.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the vehicle had been overtaking at about 100mph before it was stopped. He appealed for the driver of a green Ford Focus, which almost collided with the Saab, to come forward.
Police are also anxious to contact any other witnesses, who are asked to contact traffic police at Harrogate on (01423) 505541.
