SUNDERLAND 1, IPSWICH TOWN 0
STAND-IN striker Danny Dichio scored his second goal against Ipswich Town in the space of a month to send Sunderland through to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup for the first time in nine years at the Stadium of Light.
It was a very poor game between the two top five Premiership sides and Dichio's 23rd minute match-winner - a diving header - was one of the few highlights.
Ipswich, beaten 4-1 on Wearside on New Year's Day, wasted four decent chances in the first half, but striker Marcus Stewart, who had scored in his seven previous games, was never given a clear-cut chance to add to his 17-goal season's tally.
Sunderland lost England international Kevin Phillips at half time with an injury and the 14-goal striker now faces a race against the clock to be fit for the visit of defending Champions Manchester United on Wednesday.
