The Prince of Wales, left, yesterday tried some hot and spicy chutney at a farmers' market and got more than he bargained for.
Charles, who was visiting the market at Orton, Cumbria, grimaced as the tangy date and lime pickle chutney left a burning aftertaste.
He told stallholder Manel Trepte, 68: "It tastes wonderful - and then there's the after-burner".
Charles, who was on a one-day tour of Cumbria, spent the morning at the farmers' market, and later he visited a bakery in Melmerby, and a crayfish regeneration project in Melkinthorpe.
