SCHOOLS and charities in Darlington are failing to take up the offer of cheap computer equipment.
Comusel specialises in the refurbishment of used information technology equipment.
The company, which has premises on the Riverbank Trading Estate, Darlington, encourages registered charities and schools to take up the offer of the equipment.
But it has encountered problems trying to persuade people to take advantage of the scheme.
Comusel's sales director, Nick Bowles, said he was puzzled why the take-up had been so slow.
Age Concern Darlington is one of the few local charities which has taken advantage of the service.
Chief officer Peter Walshaw said: "Computers are vitally important, and charities should not walk away just because they are being offered at a very reasonable price."
Any registered charity or school which would like to take advantage of the scheme can contact Comusel's charity desk on (01325) 256000. Anyone wishing to donate equipment can call the same number
