NORTH Durham farmers will be able to find out about environmentally sensitive crop-growing at a seminar.
Durham County Council organised the event to explain integrated crop management (ICM).
ICM has been defined as a whole farm policy that provides the basis for efficient and profitable production which is economically viable and environmentally responsible.
Bill Kirkup, Durham County Council's landscape officer, said ICM was increasingly being promoted as a more sustainable approach to food production than conventional agriculture.
"Many farmers will be familiar with the concept of ICM from the farming press, but may not have had the opportunity to determine its relevance to their situation. The aim of this event is to provide farmers with the opportunity to hear from experts in this field and the chance to question them on areas of interest or concern.''
The seminar, organised with help from the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, will be held on Thursday, March 1, at St Oswald Golf Club's conference centre, Durham. Tickets cost £7. Call Bill Kirkup on 0191-383 4078 for details.
