TWO people are being questioned about a hit-and-run crash in which a pensioner was killed.
Anne Profitt, 71, of Landsdowne Road, Longlands, Middlesbrough, who was in the front passenger seat of a Ford Cortina, died in a collison with a Vauxhall Astra.
Her husband, Joseph, who had been driving the Cortina, is receiving hospital treatment for minor chest injuries and cuts to his face.
Teesside detectives are appealing to the public for information on the movements of the Astra, registration H786 VRR, which is undergoing forensic and mechanical tests.
Detective Sergeant Ted Allen said: "The response from the public to the appeal has been very good."
The Astra had been travelling south towards Belle Vue, Marton, when the cars crashed at the junction of the A172 Marton Road with Farndale Road.
Witnesses to the crash, on Sunday afternoon, are asked to contact PC Neil Empson of Cleveland Police crash investigation unit on (01642) 301558. Anyone with information about the Astra is asked to speak to Detective Sergeant Allen on (01642) 303126.
