CARE workers across the region are being offered a helping hand to gain vital training and qualifications.
St John Ambulance, in North Yorkshire and Teesside, is now providing courses in care at NVQ levels two and three.
The charity's scheme is designed to help care homes and other agencies face up to new legislation aimed at improving standards in the healthcare sector.
St John Ambulance training and development officer, Lynne Dixon, said the target was to offer help and support to 60 students from care homes and agencies across the region in the first year.
The courses are likely to appeal to those working with elderly or disabled people in a nursing or residential setting.
