When it comes to racehorses, quality over quantity has always been the priority of Carrutherstown trainer Lenny Lungo.

But this season the Scot is in the enviable position of having a generous helping of both, and he's well on target to beat his best total of 56, gained two years ago.

No British trainer has a better strike rate than Lungo, who is currently hitting the target once in every three runners, and when you consider he's up against the Pipes, Hendersons and Williams of this world, then that is no mean achievement.

His horses are in cracking form and he can be on the mark again at Kelso this afternoon with Lord Of The Sky in the Isle Of Skye Novices Chase and Celtic Giant in the Persimmon Homes Showcase Handicap Chase.

Lord Of The Sky should be very well suited by the step up to three miles and he can maintain his unbeaten record over fences. He won't be much of a price but can be included in combination bets with Celtic Giant, an impressive winner at Newcastle last time.

Celtic Giant is very good on his day and when on song he jumps and stays really well. Although he's been upped 9lb for that win, there's probably better to come and he's taken to beat the less experienced Red Striker.

Fiori can give a boost to Lungo's classy Skippers Cleuch by lifting the Tote Top Of The North Novices hurdle over two miles.

Patrick Haslam's runner ran out the easy winner over this trip on his hurdles debut at Haydock in December when beating Ebinzayd and Rum Pointer (that pair have both won since) before finishing fourth to the Lungo runner at Newcastle last time.

Dibea Times is another who won't be much of a price but he's well worth a mention as he's a very exciting prospect. He should take the Millhouse Hospitality Juvenile Novices Hurdle en route to better things with the minimum of fuss.

Ray Green, who owns Dibea Times, can also be in double form as his formerly useful chaser Sparky Gale should have too much class for his rivals in the Kelso Members Hunters Chase over three miles and one furlong.

One who should be a much better price and who looks the bet of the afternoon is Jonjo O'Neill's Bold Investor, who makes his handicap debut in the Tote Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle over two miles and two furlongs.

This winner at Newcastle in November was far from disgraced behind Dibea Times and Columbus when last seen in December and that pair have both franked the form with subsequent wins.

A mark of 108 looks a fair one and unlike most of this field, he's open to further improvement. The booking of Adrian Maguire catches the eye and the step up from two miles looks sure to be in his favour.

There's a cracking conditions stakes at Wolverhampton over an extended mile featuring much improved performers of late such as Hail The Chief, Jorrocks and Young-Un.

Preference is for Richard Hannon's Hail The Chief, who is unbeaten in four outings at this course (including three at this trip) and he seems to go particularly well for his 5lb apprentice.

Simon Dow's Tyler's Toast shaped with promise on his reappearance after a seven-month absence last time, when second to Windshift over the extended nine furlongs at this course and he can go one better in the Bet Direct On 0800 211 222 Handicap.

My selection was in cracking form on Fibresand at around this time last year when he notched a three-timer over today's course and distance and he still figures on a favourable handicap rating.

Seven Springs, a ready winner at Southwell on Monday, can overcome a penalty in division one of the Bet Direct From Littlewoods Handicap over the same trip of five furlongs
