A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Martin Jones, 24, of Eden Road, Middlesbrough, was remanded in custody by Teesside magistrates yesterday, for one week.
He is accused of killing 71-year-old Anne Profitt, in a crash in Marton Road, Middlesbrough, on Sunday afternoon.
It is alleged that he struck a Ford Cortina driven by Mrs Profitt's husband Joseph, of Longlands, Middlesbrough, and shunted their car into a wall.
Mr Jones is also accused of driving while disqualified, failing to stop or report the accident, and driving without insurance.
