FAITHFUL pet dogs Dax and Jane have found a new home following the death of her elderly owner.
The cross-breed terriers had been staying at Shincliffe Mill Boarding Kennels, near Durham City, since their owner fell ill on Christmas Day. She later died in hospital.
Kennel owner Paul Gill said he was inundated with calls from people offering the nine and 13-year-old dogs homes, following an appeal in The Northern Echo.
The pets have been taken in by a young family from the East Durham area.
Paul said: "We had a very good response and I had to stop the phone calls coming in. There were a lot of disappointed people.
