AN art project that aims to educate the public about the scale of domestic violence in County Durham has been such a success it looks likely to be given a six-month extension.
Derwentside District Council officers have recommended that councillors allow theatre workers the free use of 15 Rogerley Terrace, Catchgate, near Annfield Plain, for their project for a further six months.
In the house, members of theatre group Theatre Cap a Pie and Derwentside Domestic Violence enact the roles of abusers and abused in a family situation. Clues are left around the property to hint that something is seriously wrong in the home.
The project was originally only due to run for two weeks last summer, but was identified as a potentially important educational tool for social worker students. Schools and police may also attend the house.
Members of Derwentside council's cabinet committee will discuss the extension, on Monday
