CARE workers across the region are being offered a helping hand to gain vital training and qualifications.
St John Ambulance in North Yorkshire and Teesside is providing courses in care at NVQ levels two and three.
The scheme is designed to help care homes and other agencies face up to new legislation aimed at improving standards in the healthcare sector.
St John Ambulance training and development officer, Lynne Dixon, said the target was to offer help to 60 students from care homes and agencies across the region in the first year.
Mrs Dixon said: "What we offer is a progressive training programme, which will help people in the care field towards nationally-recognised qualifications, high standards and potential career progression."
The courses are likely to appeal to those working with elderly or disabled people in a nursing or residential setting.
Further details are available from Mrs Dixon on (01845) 521942, or 521910 after hours.
