A historic event has been marked at Darlington's Harrowgate Hill Infant School. To celebrate its 99th anniversary on Friday, pupils were asked to dress up.
With the help of parents, life in the classroom took on a different look. Boys dressed in short trousers, neckerchiefs and flat caps, girls in long dresses and shawls.
Headteacher Margaret Cunningham said: "We feel this gives young children a sense of history and it is a bit of fun. It is a fact that some of these children's great-grandparents will have been educated at this school."
